The 7-inch pressing of this EP was of such poor quality that the band decided to not release it. During this time, the band attracted the attention of one of RCA's promotion managers. As a result, they recorded an album for RCA during May 3 and 4, 1978. However, the band was unhappy with the terms of their contract, which reflected a low royalty percentage. Although the contract was typical for an unknown band signing to a major label, the punk movement had created many independent labels which were offering more favorable contracts.
